The Department of Inland Revenue says that information has been reported that some groups of people pose as Inland Revenue officers and go to businessmen to collect money.
Inland Revenue Department informs people who come to collect money in that way to avoid giving money.
The Inland Revenue Department also mentioned that they have complained to the Sri Lanka Police to take legal action on the related incidents in order to bring such people to justice.
It is further stated that he has informed all the tax payers that the arrears of tax collected related to all types of taxes administered by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue will be duly notified in writing and will be done only legally.
