Dasun Gamage, director of the Vehicle Emission Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Vehicles, states that complaints can be sent to the WhatsApp number 070 3500 525 regarding vehicles driving on the road emitting excessive smoke.
He informs that measures will be taken to blacklist such vehicles and that the smoke certificate will not be obtained only for the purpose of obtaining the vehicle license.
The director says that even if the smoke certificate is obtained through fake tactics, the police officers and the officers of the motor vehicle department will carry out relevant inspections in all areas of the island when the vehicles are driving on the road.
He further states that if excessive smoke is observed, a maintenance order or prohibition order will be issued against the owner of the vehicle concerned.
