Adviser to the Interim Government of Bangladesh

The President's Office has announced that Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus will be appointed as the chief advisor of an interim government in Bangladesh.

According to foreign media reports, this decision was taken during a discussion between President Mohammad Shaha Budin and the leaders of the student group.

With Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing the country, the student leaders had declared that they would not accept a military government, and accordingly the name of Muhammad Yunus had been proposed to lead an interim government.

Nobel Peace Laureate Muhammad Yunus, who agreed to accept this position, said that the demand of the students at this difficult time could not be denied.
