Mahinda Deshapriya can give heart to the President

 Former Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya says that a candidate can get the heart symbol as a symbol of contesting for the presidential election but cannot get the Bharat symbol.

 He mentioned that there is no problem in giving the sign of the biological heart with its four chambers and blood vessels, as the marks of the eye, ear, and hand have already been given.

 However, he mentioned that an independent candidate cannot get a specific mark, and if someone else claims the same mark, they will have to draw ballots.

 The former election commissioner said this while answering a question raised by journalists as to whether the current president has requested the heart symbol to contest as an independent.
