The Department of Meteorology says that due to the turbulent nature of the lower atmosphere near Sri Lanka, the current rain situation will continue throughout the island.
The department stated that rain or thundershowers may occur from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces, while in the rest of the island, there may be scattered rain or thundershowers in the evening or at night.
In some areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces, mm. Heavy rains above 100 are possible and showers are also possible in the morning in the eastern coastal areas.
The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
