Solar panels for Sri Lanka railway stations

Cabinet approval has been received for installing and maintaining solar panels on the roofs of railway stations and buildings belonging to the Railway Department.

 The Cabinet decision states that the railway department has more than 300 railway stations, and it has been recognized that it is best to start a project to generate electricity from solar power on their roofs.

 Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Transport and Highways to implement the project as a public-private partnership project.
